Minnesota State Senate, District 25 — serving since 2022 (previously MN House, District 25B, 2020–2022) Senator Liz Boldon’s story begins where many nursing careers do—with a calling to serve. As a child, she dreamed of becoming a teacher. But while working as a nursing assistant in a long-term care facility during high school, she discovered her path in nursing. After earning her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Allen College in 2002, Senator Boldon moved to Rochester and began her career as an intensive care nurse—an environment where, as she describes it, critical thinking, collaboration, and compassion are never optional. She completed her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in education in 2008, studying at night after putting her children to bed. After a decade in nursing education and leadership, she made a choice some might consider unexpected: she returned to the bedside. Her commitment to serving her community led her to the Minnesota House of Representatives in 2020 and the Minnesota Senate in 2022, where she currently serves as assistant majority leader. Senator Boldon also serves as faculty for the Healing Politics Campaign School for Nurses & Midwives, sharing her experience and inspiring the next generation of nurses to step into public service. Her journey shows that nursing, teaching, and policymaking are not separate callings—they are different ways to educate, advocate, and care for a community.
