Campaign School Fundraising
An Initiative to Improve Public Policy Through the Power of Nursing
Healing Politics was launched on December 28, 2021 as a 501(c)3 with a mission to inspire, motivate and train nurses and midwives to run for elected office up and down the ballot while building a culture of civic engagement within the professions. The organization’s priority is also its most bold and transformative objective: to hold the first non-partisan Campaign School for Nurses & Midwives in May 2023.
The initial funding necessary to deliver the campaign training program in May 2023 is $75,000.
Goals and Objectives
Healing Politics will educate nurses and midwives to understand and use their power to create change at the local, state, and national levels while creating a pipeline of nurses and midwives to run for elected office. The priority is to hold the first Campaign School for Nurses and Midwives in May of 2023.
- Inspire nurses to run for office up and down the ballot
- Identify nurses and midwives who will run and build a community to help them
- Provide non-partisan training to help nurses who run, win
- Promote a culture within the professions where we support our colleagues who enter politics
- Partner with researchers to add to what we know about nurses and midwives in elected office
How You Can Help
An initial grant of 2.8 million over three years would build capacity and be targeted towards:
- Professional expenses including legal, design, and marketing service
- Staff and program director salaries
- Website development and expansion including a platform for event registration and virtual events
- The development and execution of marketing materials and social media campaigns
- Creating educational resources that are specific to nurses and midwives running for office
- Developing and delivering additional virtual and in-person educational programs
- Delivering one 3-day in-person campaign training program to 50 nurses and midwives annually
What it means to be a charitable organization and why you won't find campaign or candidate information on our website:
Healing Politics made the decision to incorporate as a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization. This means every donation is tax-deductible – yay! However, this tax-exempt designation comes with one significant limitation: according to IRS regulations, tax-exempt organizations “may not participate in any campaign activity for or against political candidates.”
Our mission is focused on highlighting the need for more nurses and midwives in elected office, inspiring them to run, and providing non-partisan training. We encourage everyone to be an educated voter and to work to elect individuals you support, but Healing Politics cannot engage in campaign activities for any particular candidate.
