Our History

Kimberly Gordon and Lisa Summers met at Yale School of Nursing in 2018. Lisa who, as her then-adviser and now-partner, worked with Kimberly and a classmate to develop a program that would equip nurses and midwives with the skills and resources to become successful political candidates. The first in the nation Yale Campaign School for Nurses and Midwives was to be piloted in May 2020. The COVID-19 pandemic postponed their plans but did not dampen their enthusiasm.

In 2021, they established Healing Politics as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Healing Politics has partnered with experts in electoral politics, including nurse legislators serving at the local, state, and federal levels, and campaign operatives who have practical experience in fields ranging from fundraising to digital strategy. A team of political scientists will contribute to the body of knowledge regarding non-traditional political candidates.
