Is There A Nurse in the House?
A Documentary Film
When the Campaign School (planned for May 2020) had to be postponed due to Covid, we began thinking about other ways to inspire and motivate nurses to run for elected office. As fans of documentaries, we thought, “Why not create a film that would explore nurses in elected office?”.
In collaboration with a budding film crew from the School of Filmmaking at the University of North Carolina School of the Arts, that vision is taking shape.
Our initial interviews were limited to Zoom during the early days of the pandemic; However, we have since had the pleasure of visiting the North Carolina General Assembly to interview (now) Senator Gale Adcock, Wilmington, Delaware to interview Lieutenant Governor Bethany Hall-Long, and the U.S. Capitol to film (now former) Representative Eddie Bernice Johnson (TX-30) and Representative Lauren Underwood (IL-14).
In May, our film crew traveled to Washington DC once again to film and interview nurses at the National Nurses March. Stay tuned for updates on this exciting project.
