The Cash Ceiling: How Nurses Can Break Through to Run for Elected Office.

JB Duke Hotel 230 Science Drive, Durham, NC, United States +1 more

The Cash Ceiling:  How Nurses Can Break Through to Run for Elected Office   Can't make it to the Healing Politics Campaign School for Nurses & Midwives? That's OK - we will bring it to you! Join us for a conversation between Duke University Professor of Public Policy and Sociology Nicholas Carnes, PhD and Duke University School of Nursing Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging, Ernest Grant, PhD, RN, FAAN. At Healing Politics we know that one of the biggest barriers to nurses running for elected office is money. We also know that representation matters! Better public policy is made when there are multiple viewpoints - including nurses & midwives - at the policy-making table. In the U.S. we’ve been governed by the privileged. Dr. Carnes's work explores why that is and what we can do to change that. Are there solutions available that will help us increase the number of nurses & midwives in elected office? Join us to find out! The agenda: In-person dinner: 6-8:30 pm ET Live-streamed event: 7:30 - 8:30 pm ET There are two options for attending this event: In-person - join the Campaign School Faculty and attendees for dinner and the discussion. Tickets are $55/person; 30 seats are available Virtual - Duke University School of Nursing is sponsoring a live broadcast of the discussion - we are bringing a bit of the Campaign School to you!
