Bethany Hall-Long: Bio

Bethany’s background in nursing and politics made her a top choice when we reached out for faculty for the Candidate School for Nurses & Midwives. Before being elected Lt. Governor in 2020, Bethany served as a member of Delaware’s legislature, first as a Representative and then as a Senator. Bethany graduated from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia and later pursued her MSN in community health nursing from the Medical University of South Carolina while her husband Dana was stationed in Charleston with the U.S. Navy. Her interest in policy led Bethany to complete her Ph.D. in health policy and nursing administration from George Mason University and serve as a fellow for the U.S. Senate as well as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
“It is critical for the healthcare system that nurses be not only educated about healthcare policy, but that nurses have a seat at the table where political decisions are made. If nurses are not at the table they or the issues they care about will be on the menu. I am pleased to be part of Healing Politics.”
