Do Political Endorsements Really Matter?

November 22, 2023 @ 8:00 pm

Do political endorsements really matter? Whose endorsements matter most? To whom? How do candidates earn them? Join us on 11/2 to find out!

Do political endorsements really matter to voters? Which voters? Who endorses candidates and how do these organizations choose who to endorse? Do candidates for local office seek endorsements too? From whom?

Whether you are:

  • A nurse or midwife who is evaluating candidates to decide who to vote for.
  • An organization that endorses candidates or would like to create an endorsement process.
  • A potential nurse or midwife candidate who is trying to figure out what the endorsement process might mean to your campaign – if you run*.
  • A nurse or midwife candidate looking at a stack of forms from organizations you’ve heard of (and some you haven’t) and wondering which ones to fill out and which ones to skip.

This event is for you!

Join Healing Politics, the newly elected president of the Washington State Nurses Association (WSNA) Justin Gill, DNP, ARNP, RN, FNP-C., and Cheryl Boudreau, Professor of Political Science, at UC Davis to learn everything you ever wanted to know about endorsements.

Dr. Gill knows a thing or two about them – he developed the process that WSNA uses to endorse candidates. As an intern for US Representative Jerry McNerney in 2008, he saw the process from the candidate’s point of view.

Professor Boudreau’s research examines whether and when different types of political information help uninformed voters make political decisions that improve their welfare. She is an expert in endorsements and their effect on voters.

We cannot wait to see you at 8 pm EST on Thursday, November 2nd.
