U.S. House of Representatives, South Carolina’s 3rd District (2025–present) Congresswoman Sheri Biggs made history in 2024 as only the third woman from South Carolina elected to the U.S. House of Representatives and the first woman to represent the state’s 3rd Congressional District. She brings more than three decades of healthcare experience and a distinguished record of military service to Congress. A board-certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner, Congresswoman Biggs earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Samford University. She also serves as a lieutenant colonel in the Air National Guard and is a graduate of the Air War College. During her military career, she served as medical crew director on multiple combat and combat-support missions for Operation Freedom’s Sentinel, earning the Aerial Achievement Medal. In Congress, she serves on the Homeland Security; Foreign Affairs; and Science, Space, and Technology Committees. These assignments allow her to draw upon her clinical and military expertise while addressing issues affecting national security, scientific innovation, emergency preparedness, and public health.
