Beth Haney: Bio

Former Yorba Linda City Council Member (2016-2024) and Mayor (2020) Beth Haney brought a nurse’s perspective to local government, drawing upon her career as a family nurse practitioner and healthcare advocate. She earned her undergraduate degree from Loma Linda University in 1995, her Master of Science in Nursing in 2000, and her Doctor of Nursing Practice from the University of Colorado in Colorado Springs. Since 2006, she has owned and operated a private aesthetics and wellness practice, originally in Yorba Linda and now in Eagle, Idaho. Before seeking elected office, Haney worked with stakeholders in Sacramento and Washington, D.C., on legislation affecting healthcare and nurse practitioners. That advocacy led to eight years of service on the California Association for Nurse Practitioners’ state board—including two years as president, representing more than 18,000 members—and her appointment as the first nurse practitioner to chair the UCI Health Placentia-Linda Hospital Board of Directors. Haney served on the Yorba Linda City Council from 2016 to 2024, including a term as mayor in 2020. Her journey from clinical practice and professional advocacy to elected office demonstrates how nurses can translate healthcare expertise, coalition-building skills, and community trust into effective local leadership.
“We need more nurses from both sides of the aisle in public office. Working together with balance is the only way to get publicly supported and popular policies accomplished.”
