President, Bensalem Township School District School Board (PA) — serving through January 2028. Dr. Deborah King brings a valuable combination of nursing, education, and community advocacy to school board leadership. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from The College of New Jersey, a dual master’s degree in nursing and education from Drexel University, and her PhD from Villanova University in 2025. She erves as a clinical assistant professor at Villanova. After years of service on the Bensalem Township School Board, Dr. King became board president in 2026. In that role, she presides over public meetings, helps set the agenda with the superintendent, and serves as the board’s primary spokesperson. Her priorities include student and staff safety, improving English language arts and math proficiency, modernizing the curriculum, upgrading aging middle school facilities, and finding solutions to persistent bus driver shortages. She approaches these challenges with insight gained from working inside Bensalem schools as a nurse, where she saw firsthand the need for additional school nurses and instructional support staff. Dr. King’s experience in healthcare, education, and community organizing has equipped her with skills in budgeting, governance, and collaboration that translate directly to school board service. Her leadership demonstrates how nurses can use their understanding of children, families, and community well-being to help shape the systems in which students learn and grow.
