Diamond Staton-Williams: Bio

North Carolina House of Representatives, District 73 served from November 2022–January 2025. Before serving in the North Carolina House, Diamond Staton-Williams spent five years on the Harrisburg Town Council. She often credits the North Carolina Nurses Association Leadership Academy and the guidance of trusted mentors—particularly Senator Gale Adcock—with helping her find her path into public service. Senator Adcock encouraged her to begin by serving on community boards, experience that prepared her to run first for town council and later for the General Assembly. Mentorship remains central to Staton-Williams’ story. Although she has left the legislature, she continues to encourage nurses to pursue civic and political leadership, sharing lessons from her own experience with campaigning, messaging, community engagement, and the value of professional associations such as NCNA. Her message is simple: nurses bring an essential perspective to the policymaking table, but “wise counsel”—mentors willing to open doors and share hard-earned lessons—can help them find their way there.
“We have to have wise counsel. That’s what got me to run for office.”
