Idaho House of Representatives, District 15 — serving since 2023. A fourth-generation Idahoan and third-generation nurse, Representative Dori Healey brings the perspective of a clinical nurse specialist to public service. Her healthcare experience has given her a firsthand understanding of how policy and regulation affect both patients and the professionals who care for them. Representative Healey is a past president of the American Nurses Association – Idaho. She earned master’s degrees in nursing education and business administration, as well as her advanced clinical nurse specialist preparation, from Loyola University Chicago. In the Idaho House of Representatives, she serves on the Commerce and Human Resources, Health and Welfare, and Local Government Committees—work that allows her to help shape policies affecting nurses, healthcare providers, and, most importantly, patients. As the mother of two young children, Representative Healey describes campaigning and legislating as a family effort made possible by the encouragement of her husband and children. Her advice to nurses who may be considering public office reflects her own experience: “Trust the process. There is never a ‘right’ time to run for office.”
